Seven words of the cross The seven words of the cross are generally discussed during the meditation of the crucifixion of Jesus. These seven words are compiled together from the four written gospels. All seven verses are not seen in all gospels. Seven indicates completeness – seven churches, seven stars, seven lamps, seven seals, seven trumpets, seven festivals and Seven days. Thus, the number seven is given importance in the Bible. Because of this the thought of seven words also would have started.
